Amy was out of town at her grandmother’s funeral a couple of weeks ago, and I was going to be at work when she got back, so I bought some flowers at Publix to have on the table when she came home. No sooner had I gotten them home that it occured to me that they might be fun to photograph. Several years ago I picked up some cheapo filter lenses for doing macro stuff. Basically they are magnifying lenses that screw on the front of a normal lens like a filter. They came in a set of 3 (a 1X, a 2X, and a 4X) They don’t have nearly the optical quality of a real macro lens, but they have some rather neat traits that make them fun to play with. If I remember correctly, this is using all three lenses for a total of 7X on top of the 50mm prime lens. For some reason that I don’t really understand, this is my favorite of the bunch from that night. Other than the crop, this is pretty much how it came out of the camera, and it has a cool aged photo look to it that I really like.
I am going to play around with doing themed posts based on the day of the week. Perhaps this will motivate me to write a little more. After all, my wife is continually telling me that her favorite blogger hasn’t written in a while, and I certainly want to post more often that that guy, whoever he may be.
With that in mind, Mondays are going to be my “journallying” day, for lack of a better word. I will write about what all is going on and is really for those of you out there who care about all the boring stuff I do. Wednesday is going to be my soapbox day. It will probably be a rant of some sort, or possibly some deeper issue I feel like talking about. Friday, is going to be a photo. I know that I have my flickr feed up top, and the photos will probably show up there first, but I want to start showing off photos better and with a little more of a story to them.
We will see if this whole idea even works for me, and I might end up changing themes, or adding other days or only making it a couple of weeks, but regardless, I feel like giving it a try.
