wow, the internet used to be really ugly.

There is likely to be a variety of reactions to POSSESSED. It is a video that follows a few very extreme examples of people who are quite literally drowning in their stuff. I have personally begun a process of removing stuff. I would love to get the amount of unused stuff down to a very minimum. While I am not nearly as bad as any of these people, once I started looking I found things like the boxes to electronics that I am not even using anymore. Throwing away is hard, but it so much nicer to have space, and non-clutter.

Update: It works better when I include the link.

Interesting teaching methods have fascinated me for some time. I particularly enjoyed a recent read about a professor who informed his students that he would insert one lie into each of his lectures and that it was their duty to determine that lie since they would be tested on the truth regardless.

If I was going to wear a watch, and it was going to be non-digital, and a little artsy, and very geeky, this would definitely be the watch I would wear. (If you don’t get it, think computer icon)

5 things I have now that I didn’t have a week ago.

  1. A pair of special edition Mickey Mouse ears for being in the right place at the right time. Incidentally, that time and place was the left imagination area at the entrance of the Epcot Center last Saturday around 9:30AM. I know that time and place were special because that is what the guy told me as he handed me the ears. I know the ears were special because park workers kept asking me about them all day.
  2. Two fillings and a crown in my teeth. Yes thats right I have now failed as a human being by not brushing enough, and ended up with a royal molar.
  3. The unfortunate knowledge of what it feels like to pass a kideny stone, and in that light, the fortunate knowledge of what it feels like to have high power narcotics shot directly into your arm through an IV. I am told I was a little loopy.
  4. A giant get well card from a classroom of 6th graders, one of which made a wonderful suggestion that I try ice-cream, since it could help.
  5. A past anniversery. Amy and I first really started hanging out together on St. Patty’s day last year. Since that has come and gone this year. It means we have been dating more that a year. Awww. How sweet.

A More Perfect Union

I can no longer claim a preference for either of our countries political parties. The truth of the matter is that by and large they are identical is so many ways, and different is so few ways that it no longer matters. They are separate only because of the blind ignorant loyalty of the American masses. They are a facade of competition in order to sell advertisement during news television and in newspapers.

If we abandon loyalty to an established political party, we must look to the individuals, their ideas, their merits, and decide on the best individual. That certainly does not guaruntee that we will agree with all of their ideas and beliefs, but that is the way of things. With that in mind, if you haven’t heard Barrach Obama’s recent speech on race issues in our country, do yourself a favor and listen to it. It is, all around, a brilliant speech. Here is an actual presidental candidate who is not only actually standing up for a change from our current failing situation, but who is intelligent enough to bring the country together and lead. Did I mention that this speech is completely the work of Obama? This was not created by a committee of writers with the polls in one hand and a thesaurus in the other. It was the result of a single politician alone for two and a half days articulately writing his actual thoughts and opinions. When was the last time a president gave a major speech without the help of a writer? Nixon in 1969.

not my usual fare, but since I know people who might like to know how to remove paint from old door hinges etc, here’s how.
