and the award goes to…

If I were in the habit of giving out an award for the quote of the day, today’s award would go to Miss Taylor, who it should be noted is 3 years old. I met this young lady while at my photo shoot. It was decided by the woman who brought me into this world that there should be some sort of photographic evidence that I am still in it. That tells you why I found myself being photographed in the sweltering heat of the afternoon, but does very little to reveal to you the esteemed quote.

From time to time through the duration of my visit to the studio, I found that I had to wait for something or other to happen. Early in my waiting room time, the little woman in question must have sensed my lack of entertainment, for she tore herself away from “Jimmy Neutron” and engaged herself in a vigorous game of peek-a-boo using me as her target and hiding behind curtains, doors, and her mothers thigh, well basically anything in her general vicinity which happened to find itself between 2 and 3 feet of the ground. From this point onward, I felt it was my obligation to return the favor, and entertain. This may or may not have involved dancing a jig, running while standing but two feet of the ground, and a fair share of dancing stuffed rabbits. Having finished by session, and begun my exit, these words found there way out of a little girls mouth, through the hallway, around the antique chair, and just past the slowly closing door: “Jonathan is silly.”

at the changing of the guard

It was time for a change, so out with the old and in with the new. “The Old” has served me well. I originally bought it a couple of months before I started college in 2000, and a couple of months after I totaled a car very similar to it which I had had since I learned to drive. At $1000 I didn’t expect it to last terribly long. I just wanted it to make it until I graduated so that I would have an income to pay for a replacement. Well I drove it 50-60k miles during these past 5 years and I guess God heard my small request to my car. Despite its various problems it has continued to run fairly well right up until I drove it home during my last finals week to big up a truck for moving. It never started again without some strong encouragment, and never really ran. It’s work was finish, and it has been sent on to car heaven.

Enter “The New”. It is very pretty. And it has A/C. All is now well in the world.

tired of waiting

Let it be known by the masses that visiting a Verizon store is much like being a five-year-old on Christmas Eve except there are no presents to look forward to. Their motto which they plaster all over the place is “We never stop working for you.” This is in fact because they are not fast enough to ever get done. In the past two weeks, I have had the misfortune of having to visit my local office twice. Both occasions require no less than 45 minutes just to get someone to help me. After this wait, I still haven’t gotten what I want them to give. Instead, both times I was told to come back in two weeks. Well blah on you V!

I am currently working on a site for my old high school. You can see the development in progress at www.erelas.com/gcs. Any comments that you might have are welcome.

a matter of life and death

Just in case you were unaware of this fact, and you found yourself in a situation for which it was vitally important to know, bamboo cuts are greater than paper cuts in all ways imaginable. Sure those bamboo stalks look innocent standing there in the ground all round and hollow, but start tugging on them and they will cut you like gangsta thug with a bad additude. Use this information wisely.

So this evening I drove myself down the way to the Piedmont Tech Fireworks display to have a little photography fun. I then decided that it would be a good time for me to get a flickr account. My photo’s can be found here. I would like to say however that they people that run that site are hilarious. Just look at this screen shot of the profile page.
